The History of April 14th...

So, I meant to do this on my birthday post, but I forgot. A couple of months ago I "Google Searched" my birthday just to see what interesting things would come up. To my surprise there were some quite depressing events. I went through and picked out a few interesting ones (good and bad) .

1828:
American lexicographer Noah Webster publishes the first edition of his dictionary under the title American Dictionary of the English Language. (this wasn't depressing, it was just interesting)

1865: Confederate malcontent John Wilkes Booth shoots President Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C.; Lincoln dies early the next morning. (this was one of the depressing ones)

1912: The Titanic strikes an iceberg four days into its maiden voyage; over 1,500 passengers drown when the ship sinks early the next morning.(another depressing one)

1960: The musical "Bye Bye Birdie" opened at the Martin Beck Theatre in New York City. Chita Rivera and Dick Van Dyke starred in the Broadway show which ran for 607 performances.(kind of cool)

That's all. I don't have much to post about. I suggest everyone go "Google search" their birthday, it's pretty fascinating. :)

Sounds like fun for a future post, although I don't know if I can take any more depressing news right now.

Those were really cool. I will have to do a search on my B-day.
