Oh, how I love Newsies...

Well, I don't have much to post about.... So I thought I would do a little post about one of my favorite musicals of all time. NEWSIES! I'm very sad to say that not many people have heard of it. It's just a little Disney musical that came out in 1992. It was directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega, who also directed and choreographed "High School Musical"---(blech) if I do say so myself I think he did a better job with this one. :)

Here's a little overview of the movie for you poor people that haven't seen it. :(

July, 1899: When Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise the distribution price one-tenth of a cent per paper, ten cents per hundred, the newsboys, poor enough already, are outraged. Inspired by the strike put on by the trolley workers, Jack "Cowboy" Kelly (Christian Bale) organizes a newsboys' strike. With David Jacobs (David Moscow) as the brains of the new union, and Jack as the voice, the weak and oppressed found the strength to band together and challenge the powerful.

It's also based on a true story!

I also have a couple videos for those of you who need a visual (like me) and plus it's not the same if you don't hear some of the songs :)

I was going to put up the opening to the movie, but You Tube didn't have a code for it. So I have the song that they sing when they decide to go on strike. It's pretty good, but not as good as the opening. Oh, well.




Now, for the last video... this part is probably the reason I love this movie SOO much. Just watch it and you'll know why. :)



I don't think I need to explain why I love this part... I'm not crazy about the weird karate/dancing thing after the singing, but I guess they had to do something more manly after sounding so beautiful... ;)
